Northcroft Middle East were commissioned by the Client to act as Development, Project, Cost and Contract Managers for the Al Nasser Head Quarters building at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi. This iconic building comprises 30,000m2 Gross Floor Area and is one of the Region’s first tessellated steel façade structures.
Apart from having a dynamic visual effect, this unique tubular steel structural façade facilities the provision of uninterrupted office space on each tower floor of the building without the need for immediate column supports.
The design further provides for a stunning curvilinear external form resulting in a vase like configuration.
The Al Nasser Headquarters building comprises basement parking, a first and second floor podium with retail/commercial space and a tower with individual varying floor plates.
The overall structure was derived from a complex computer generated 3D wire frame model, which was used to construct a tubular steel structure that comprises of unique structural steel tubes and node connections.
The external shell of the building comprises a series of unique computer designed cladding panels, which cover and echo the precise shape and dimensions of the tessellated steel façade. A computer controlled LED lighting system is also incorporated in the window apertures of the front elevation which can project multi coloured images and shapes onto the external façade of the building.
The project was completed in early 2013 and now provides for a new and dynamic addition to the Abu Dhabi Capital Centre skyline.
